Dr.Durga Prasad Pandey

The Institute's foundation stone was laid by Mahatma Gandhi, and it received active support of the two late president of India Dr. Rajendra Prasad and Dr. S. Radhakrishnan.

In 1941, he founded the Manava Bharati Institution, a centre for learning on the line of 'Shanti Niketan' and engaged in developing it with his heart and soul.

Dr. Pandey’s life and teachings spanned the greater part of the 20th Century, is regarded by many as one who has had the most profound impact on human consciousness in modern times. Educationist, philosopher and thinker, he illumined the lives of millions the world over – intellectuals and laymen, young and old.

He travelled round the world till the age of 79 giving talks, writing, holding discussions. He talked of the things that concern all of us in our everyday life; the problems of living in modern society, the meaning of education and the individual’s search for humanity and peace, and the need for human beings to free themselves from their inner burdens of violence, fear and sorrow through education.
